阿布扎比的室内设计实践——缓慢、机构化、用心
The capital's pace is its own
返回全部文章

Abu Dhabi is not Dubai with different traffic. The capital has its own pace, its own expectations, and its own definition of what an interior should hold. The families who build here are building for permanence. The institutions that commission here are building for legacy. The interior designer who serves Abu Dhabi must be calibrated to this rhythm — or the work will feel borrowed from somewhere else.

We serve Abu Dhabi from our Dubai office. We do not have an Abu Dhabi studio, and we do not pretend to. The drive is approximately seventy-five minutes, and we maintain regular site presence for active projects. For families in Saadiyat, Al Reem, or Al Raha, we are a Dubai practice that comes to the capital with a clear proposition: hospitality-grade discipline, residential warmth, and a craft network that delivers.

The Abu Dhabi residential brief tends to be larger, longer, and quieter than its Dubai equivalent. A villa on Saadiyat Island is not designed for resale in five years. It is designed for the family to live in for twenty. The materials must hold. The proportions must reward familiarity, not novelty. The lighting must age as gracefully as the stone.

The cultural dimension is more present in Abu Dhabi than in Dubai. Majlis design is not an optional extra — it is the room the family uses most, and it carries obligations that the designer must understand before picking up a pencil. Women's and men's circulation, qibla orientation, the seasonal rhythm of Ramadan and Eid — these are structural decisions that govern the plan.

Abu Dhabi's institutional context also shapes the design market. The Louvre Abu Dhabi, the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi, the Zayed National Museum — these cultural anchors create a context in which institutional-grade interior design is understood and valued. The families who live on Saadiyat are neighbours to these buildings. They expect their homes to carry a similar seriousness of intent, even if the scale is domestic.

Our hospitality background serves Abu Dhabi well. Hotel design teaches programme discipline, material resilience, and the ability to hold a brief across a long commissioning cycle without losing the thread. These are the qualities that Abu Dhabi's residential market demands — and they are the qualities that distinguish a serious practice from a decorating service.

For families in Abu Dhabi considering a conversation with the studio, we are transparent about our position: we are a Shanghai-headquartered, Dubai-based practice with a twenty-five-year hospitality portfolio and an in-house joinery atelier. We are new to the Abu Dhabi market. Our portfolio is Chinese. Our discipline is international. And our first conversation — at our Dubai office or on your site — costs nothing and commits you to nothing.
